Youth Hostel Geneva: This is one of the cheapest accommodation options in Geneva, which makes it especially popular with backpackers. Rooms start at 25CHF, with many of the rooms dormitories with several beds. The views are incredible, and it is located just a few steps from Lake Geneva. It is a reasonable walk of 10-15 minutes into the heart of the city center, and is quite close to a train station as well. Sheets, towels and breakfast are all included in the main price, as well as internet access and even computers available for use by visitors.
City Hostel Geneva: This is the second hostel in the city. Prices are only slightly more expensive, beginning at 28CHF per person, per night. Dorms are smaller, with each room fitting a maximum of four people. There are plenty of facilities available for guests, including a shared kitchen, laundry room and even a TV lounge. A small bar is available serving drinks each afternoon and evening. It is a short five minute walk from the train station, and is only 25 minutes from the airport, for those arriving on flights to Geneva.
Cité Universitaire: This is easily the largest of the budget options in Geneva. With over 500 beds, it is rare that the hostel is ever sold out. However, it is slightly further from the city center, taking at least 20 minutes to walk or a short bus ride. In addition, beds are 50CHF and up, but this price includes access to an inexpensive restaurants and a vibrant atmosphere made up of young international travelers.
